If we diverted all the money from envirotwatshit to fusion power we'd solve the problem a damn sight faster and be able to solve the energy problem for a very long time which would also save the environment.

Fusion power does provide a net gain of energy - the problem is that we can't currently keep them going for long enough. Imagine that your car had an undiagnosed engine problem. You can start the engine but after 5 seconds or so it dies. Eventually you're going to drain your battery because it is taking more energy to start the engine than the engine is producing. Does that mean that the engine can't recharge the battery?
The process needs to be perfected, and it will be.

Of course, we could just ask Martin Fleischmann what he thinks...

The fuckwittery of some cyclists never ceases to amaze.

Last night I gave my mate a tow to the garage (about half a mile up the road) as his car had broken down. We had an 'On Tow' sign in his back window and a flourescent green towrope. I was sat waiting at some traffic lights, just about to set off, checked my mirrors and...

Some utter twat was in the process of cycling between our two cars, over the towrope. If I'd have set off, he would have been horribly maimed.

Some people are utter morons.
